Let’s blog!

Teachers learning together

How to assign student usernames in edublogs

1. Students go to the edublogs homepage and apply for a user account

2. Student should select the USERNAME ONLY option. (DO NOT select ‘gimme a blog)
    * Students should use their DET email address

3. An automated message will be sent to the student email account. Students must then open their email and activate the account.

4. Teacher to log in to edublogs and go to the blog dashboard. Click the ‘users’ link

5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and under ‘Add User from Community’ enter the students’ email address.

* I suggest you assign them author privileges.

6.  The student may now login to your edublog and begin posting

Support for your blog

Remember Stu from Term 2 SDD? He and his people have developed a blog which can help us on our journey. I listened to some of the podcasts and learnt that we are on the right track. He has some interesting information regarding what we should be doing and how to keep students safe. The information will help with ensuring we follow DET rules and expectations. I urge you to ‘check in’ with this blog. You can also see what else can be done with blogging as there are great ideas from others too.

Here we go…

Welcome to our blog! I hope we can use it to learn about what blogs are and how to use them to improve students’ engagement and learning. As you all know, you learn by doing… so I hope you will ‘do’ with me. This is the first time I’ve ‘blogged’ and am learning as I go. I think this can evolve into a valuable source of learning together for us. We will determine it’s direction as we go. Think about what you want to know, what you want to learn and what you can help others with. So, let’s blog!

About

We are a group of teachers from a coeducational comprehensive high school in Sydney. Our students come from a variety of rich and diverse cultural backgrounds, as do our teachers. We hope, together, to emerse ourselves in e learning and learn to use web 2.0 tools. We hope to have fun, learn new skills and improve student outcomes.
